HYSOL E-40HT

Main features

  • Extended-Work-Life Structural Bonding
  • Elevated-Temperature Epoxy Bonding
  • Tough Shear- and Impact-Resistant Bondline

Product Description

LOCTITE EA E-40HT is a two-part structural epoxy adhesive that mixes 2:1 resin to hardener by volume and cures at room temperature to form a tough bondline with elevated-temperature resistance. Extended work life provides a longer assembly window before cure. Fixture time on grit-blasted steel is 165 to 180 minutes at 22 deg C using a 0.1 N/mm^2 threshold. The cured adhesive provides shear performance on aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and other metals. Additional bonding substrates include selected plastics, glass, and ceramics, while the cured bondline also provides electrical insulation and impact resistance.

Key features

  • Extended Structural Assembly Window: Apply the mixed adhesive within 40 minutes; larger quantities and higher temperatures reduce the working time.
  • Heat-Aging Strength Retention: After a five-day cure at 22 deg C and 1000 hours at 150 deg C, typical lap shear strength retention is 130% of initial strength on grit-blasted steel with a 0.13 mm bondline, tested at 22 deg C.
  • Tough structural bondline: The cured adhesive combines shear performance with impact resistance in the final bondline.

Applications

Suitable structural-bonding substrates include glass, ceramics, selected plastics, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and other metals.
