Harmonization Code : 8547.90.00.00 | Insulating fittings for electrical machines, appliances or equipment, being fittings wholly of insulating material apart from any minor components of metal (for example, threaded sockets) incorporated during moulding solely for purposes of assembly, other than insulators of heading 8546; electrical conduit tubing and joints therefor, of base metal

Main features
- Documented near-field EMI absorption from 300 MHz to 4 GHz.
- Four WO magnetic-layer thicknesses from 0.1 to 0.5 mm
- Typical -40 to 150°C temperature range
Product Description
3M™ EMI Absorber AB8000 Series is a high-temperature magnetic EMI absorber for near-field applications from 300 MHz to 4 GHz. The composite construction combines a silicone carrier resin with magnetic fillers to interact with electromagnetic fields and help reduce transmitted or reflected EMI. The listed WO constructions are supplied without adhesive in 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 mm magnetic-layer thicknesses, with removable PET liners for handling and die-cutting. Typical temperature guidance spans -40 to 150°C. Performance depends on frequency, thickness, orientation and placement, so the material should be evaluated in the intended assembly.
Key features
- Near-field EMI absorption: Documented absorbing performance from 300 MHz to 4 GHz.
- Thickness selection: AB8010-WO, AB8020-WO, AB8030-WO and AB8050-WO provide 0.1 to 0.5 mm magnetic-layer options without adhesive.
- High-temperature use: Typical temperature range of -40 to 150°C, with stable material properties reported after a short-term typical solder-reflow cycle.
Applications / Suitable for
Potential evaluation contexts include:
- DC and low-frequency magnetic-field shielding.
- Mobile phones, computers, tablets, measurement devices and sensor devices.
- Magnetic-flux-sensitive devices such as Hall sensors and flux gates exposed to external low-frequency magnetic fields.
- Electronic equipment protection for automotive applications.

Additional Information
3M™ EMI Absorber AB8000 Series
3M™ EMI Absorber AB8000 Series is a silicone-based composite magnetic absorber for near-field EMI management from 300 MHz to 4 GHz. Magnetic fillers in a silicone carrier provide frequency-dependent permeability and loss, while four non-adhesive thickness options support application tuning. The series is intended for high-temperature use and has been tested through a typical short-term solder-reflow cycle.
Construction and thickness options
The constructions listed in the current technical data are WO (without adhesive). Magnetic-layer thickness and release-liner thicknesses are listed separately; the data below are representative or typical.
| Property | Value | Unit | Method / condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Absorber composition | Silicone carrier resin with magnetic fillers | — | Composite absorber layer. |
| AB8010-WO | 0.1 | mm | 100 µm magnetic layer; WO = without adhesive. |
| AB8020-WO | 0.2 | mm | 200 µm magnetic layer; WO = without adhesive. |
| AB8030-WO | 0.3 | mm | 300 µm magnetic layer; WO = without adhesive. |
| AB8050-WO | 0.5 | mm | 500 µm magnetic layer; WO = without adhesive. |
| Blue PET release liner | 0.036 | mm | 36 µm removable PET release liner. |
| Transparent PET release liner | 0.079 | mm | 79 µm removable PET release liner. |
Application evaluation and placement
AB8000 Series performance depends on how the absorber interacts with the electromagnetic field. 3M recommends establishing a baseline in the end-use assembly, then optimizing thickness, XY coverage, orientation and location against the application specification.

Placement, orientation, XY coverage and magnetic-layer thickness should be evaluated in the end-use assembly.
Shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture when the product is stored in its original packaging at 0–35°C (32–95°F) and 70% relative humidity.
Typical performance properties
The values below are representative or typical and are not specification limits. Preserve the stated method and application context when evaluating performance.
| Property | Value | Unit | Method / condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Absorbing performance range | 300 MHz to 4 GHz | — | Near-field EMI absorber performance range. |
| Electrical resistivity | 2 × 106 | Ωm | ASTM D257 type test method. |
| Typical permeability | 110–130 | Dimensionless | At 3 MHz; permeability can vary with product thickness and test method/equipment. |
| Temperature range | -40 to 150 | °C | Based on general environmental performance characteristics of the polymer binder resin; verify temperature and environmental performance in the end-use configuration. |
| Typical solder-reflow cycle | PASS | — | Short-term typical solder-reflow processing cycle; material properties remained stable after testing. |
Applications
3M identifies the AB8000 Series as a potential material for DC and low-frequency magnetic-field shielding and for selected electronic applications. Final performance depends on the end-use configuration.
